The current status is based on my genealogic research I started in 1996.
With help of some as well intersted cousins and of course the internet I developed and still evaluate this site and its informations.

Well,
based on my genealogical research I found that we come from the city of Ordou - shory at the Black Sea in present Turkey.
But this region was not always Turkish of course. Even since the ancient world a kingdom called Pontus exists there. The name Pontus based on the fact that at this time - even until the mediaeval times the Black Sea was named Euxinos Pontus.
After the Greek - Turkish wars at the beginning 20th century and after the treaty of peace in Lausanne 1923 hundred thousands of people emigrated from Turkey to Greece and vice versa.
Among of them the Zazopoulos'. They where spread around the world. So you will find them in North and South America and also in some countries in Europe. And may somwhere I don`t know yet.....
